right this second...

lately, I've been really:
inspired.
tired.
busy. {see some recent work at the Seventy and Sunny blog.}
in love.

I've been thinking about:
my list... and collaborations.

I'm thinking about:
baking these.
cooking this.

I've been listening to:
Sigur Ros and
Horse Feathers.

happy Friday friends. I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend.

oh domino...

oh my gosh.... you may or may not have heard the news, but Conde Nast has decided to stop publication of Domino. I am absolutely heart broken. I love that monthly bit of inspiration in my mailbox. I love having a tangible source for inspiration, not that I don't love the internet, but Domino is constantly a source for my "idea notebook" which I fill with pages of magazine clippings. after the demise of Blueprint, I had hoped that Domino with thrive being such a cool magazine, but I guess this is just another sign of our economic troubles. I wonder if they still plan to keep their website and blogs afloat?
{thanks for telling me, Sarah}

it's a gig

dlb and I went to see Department of Eagles last night at Doug Fir. it was amazing. I love their sound and the concert did not disappoint. usually dlb and I like to buy shirts at the shows we go to but only if they shirt is really cool. by the end of the show, I was really tired and didn't feel like pushing through the crowd to go to the ATM so we passed up on a really great DOE shirt with an owl on it that I figured we could find online.
after doing a little bit of net searching this morning, I've come up empty on the owl shirt, but I did find these really cool gig posters by Jason Munn. he's my favorite gig poster designer. I just love the simplicity and clean look of his style. I'd happily have more than one of his posters on my walls. {the Stars poster I bought in um, 2007, is one of the prints I need to hang. maybe I should get to those first so I'll be able to cross something off my list}

generra

it's cold, grey and snowing today in Portland, so spring is the last thing on my mind. however, I love these cute spring outfits from Generra. especially since they're paired with Toms shoes. I've been really wanting some Toms for awhile now.

gap + pantone

oh I love collaborations... and this is a cool one for all of my fellow design nerds out there. The Gap has teamed up with Pantone to create a color-filled t-shirt shop featuring a full palette of tees from their upcoming spring collection in true PANTONE Colors. I'll take one in PMS 14-0848 Mimosa please.

27 things.

today is my birthday. I had a nice, relaxing weekend. dinner with dlb on Saturday, snacks and shopping with Amy yesterday, got a new hat and some new airplants... but today just feels like any other day. is that a sign that I'm getting old? *sigh* birthdays just aren't like what they used to be.

on another note.... because I'm always inspired by this lovely lady, I've decided not to write a list of resolutions but rather a list of things that I'd like to do in this coming year. I've been working on this list for weeks now. I'm a list maker - it's hard coming up with just a certain amount of things for a to do list and of course, they aren't in just any random order. some are a bit of a stretch, but what's a list of goals with a bunch of easy peasy things to complete? anyway, here's a list of 27 things that I would like to do before I turn 28 next year. and thanks for the birthday wishes. you guys are amazing.

right this second...

I'm feeling a bit:
overwhelmed.

I'm glad that:
I'll be going to a nice birthday dinner for two this weekend.

I'm working on:
a list of sorts, since I didn't make any resolutions this year...

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'm looking forward to regrouping a little. I've been a bit out of sorts since I've been back and it doesn't feel good. have a good one, friends!

pendleton + opening ceremony

thanks to Jess, I now know about the collaboration between Pendleton and Opening Ceremony set to debut this fall. you'd think I'd known about this sooner since I work there and all...
I can't say these outfits look like they'd be my style, I'm not crazy about jacquards, but from what I've seen of the Pendleton Fall 09 collection, it's going to be a great season for Pendleton, filled with jewel tones and lots and lots of plaid.

becoming a skirt girl

I'm not so much of a skirt girl. I have some and love them but I'm usually more of a dress kind of girl... however, I bought a skirt from Zara while I was in the Philippines and now I'm starting to find myself really drawn to skirts. tulip style, high waisted, sash ties, and buttons.... I've added these two to my wish list.

my tiny shells

I promised I'd show you my tiny shells. I told you before that I love tiny things. but my love for tiny shells goes way back. when I was a little girl, my grandmother had a shell collection of the tiniest shells that she could find. she would spend her time searching one section of the beach at a time, hunting for the most perfect shells to put into her collection. and let me tell you friends, she has got some amazing ones including tiny, tiny crabs, itty bitty welks, and the smallest shark eye I've ever seen. so whenever I went to the beach as a little girl, I would make it a point to bring back something for my grandmother to include in her little box of shells. and the tradition has continued, except now, I'm working on my own tiny collection. and these are what I brought back from my trip.

::

what about you, readers? what is it that you like to collect? is there any family tradition like this that you've carried over into your own home? I'd love to know.

thank you, ultra!

it was quite a nice surprise to click through my Google reader this morning and see this little write up about Seventy & Sunny on one of Portland's coolest fashion and design blogs, Ultra. Ultra reports the best information when it comes to the who, what, where of fashion in Portland. thank you for the kind words, and yes! get out and get some sunshine, Portlanders! I'll be joining you as soon as I can come up with a reason to leave my desk.

I simply had to

when I spied this on Smitten today, I had to jump over to the site to see more. then, when I found this one, I grinned from ear to ear and immediately said it to dlb. tetris is big in our house, constantly battling for the high score. but since it was so out of the blue, of course he didn't get why I was saying it, which made me grin even more, but I thought it was funny all the same. and like Joanna, of course I just had to come up with some of my own too:{from I love you more than blank}
