while browsing the Free People blog today, I saw these adorable, almost too pretty to sleep in, pajamas. it's a trend I've been noticing with pajamas. me, I'm a t-shirt kind of girl, maybe even no t-shirt. I can't stand little things pulling or tugging at me while I'm sleeping, and I can't image trying to sleep in these bloomers! they are more like sleep-over pjs. still way cute though.2.28.2007

coconut water!!
mmm mmm good! the other day when we were at Fresh Market, dlb and I decided to try zico coconut water. it is so good, and refreshing and packed with more potassium than a banana. it comes in three flavors, mango, passionfruit/orangepeel, and natural coconut. I was craving a zico today, and to my surprise, they did not have it at Wild Oats. {I should've figured. I should still be boycotting that place.....} I even checked at the gas station, hoping they would have it. but that was wishful thinking. so, on the way home, dlb turned the wrong way on Mac Dill, away from our apartment, and I was like, where are you going?? I seriously thought that he was just lost, and forgot his way home. until we turned into Fresh Market.... for a zico!!!!! oh, the things you'll do because of love. :)
mmm....
do you ever feel like, you've got so much going on in your life, but yet you can't think of anything to write/talk/blog about? sometimes I just wish I had a quiet room that I could go into, at least once a day, to write. I think my biggest attraction to blogging is that writing helps me think about things, and make things clearer. but...I'm having bloggers block. so, here are a few things I'm excited/loving/thinking about:my sexy devil.
vacation days.
radiohead - the bends. {how did I ever miss out on this cd?}
new music/concerts.
mountains and rocky coastline.
chicken salad.
moose kitty.
gig posters.
framboise and apple beer.
five months.

dream...
since I'm so sleepy today, I thought I would blog about some soft, dreamy bedding and loungewear, that I'm swooning over. the top images are both from Garnet Hill and the bottom three are from Anthropologie.2.24.2007
happy weekend!!
it's Saturday! and in my world that means sleeping in, yummy breakfast, and relaxation! I hope everyone had a great work week. I had....... an OK week. not the greatest, but not absolutely horrible.now, events for today!! feel like drinking lots of beer? the Florida Brewers Guild Beer Fest is in Centro Ybor today from 2-6pm. over 100 craft beers, live music, food and fun! should be a good time, but I'm really going to have to work on pacing myself if I want to make it to round two of the events for today.
The Postmarks, just released their debut self titled album, and it's already a chart topper. described as having heart swooning melodies, this is definitely a show not to miss before these guys make it big. the voice of leading female singer, Tim, is soft and meloncholy. should be a great show! 9pm at New World Brewery. above is a gig poster I created for the show.

zero 7
have I ever mentioned how much I love Zero 7? I'm like alomst to the point of being addicted to their music. it's so soothing, yet intricate and unique. and...I'm in love with the song, Spinning. it's got a perfect melody and great lyrics. if you havn't listened to Zero 7 much, I would recommend getting one of the albums. I like Simple Things the best.
livinglass
Inspired by the colors and textures of nature, Livinglass is laminated architectural glass, which captures organic materials within luminous sheets of clear glass. I love the organic look of the glass combined with the bright colors and soft feel.{all images from livinglass}
cut again.
ok, for those of you who know me well, you know that I'm slightly anal about my hair. when I'm having a "bad hair day" it looks just the same to everyone else, but looks like an unruly mess to me. so, when I noticed that my hair was slightly longer on one side after I got it cut, I went back to the salon to get it fixed. I told my hair dresser I wanted to fix it up, annnnnnnnnd trim it a little more. :) I cut about another inch and a half cut off.
I don't remember the last time my hair was this short, but I needed something new. after turning 25, I really decided to reevaluate my life an things I wanted to change. and one thing was my hair style. after 10 years with the same hairstyle, I thought it was time for something new. I'll get a picture when I can.

pizza!
the new issue of Bon Appetite has got my mouth watering for pizza. there is an awesome looking pizza on the cover! the website is even better, showing gorgeous, delicious looking pizzas, one after another. I know pizza isn't the most healthy, but now I'm dying to make my own!{all images from Bon Appetite}

hair cut!
so...I couldn't wait to get my hair cut, and when my stylist called me to say she had a cancellation today, I jumped on the chance to get my hair cut today! it's a little longer than I had wanted it, but better longer than shorter right? I got about 4 inches cut off of it, and light layers and whispy bangs. I LOVE it!! it's a great start to my re-vamping of my style. {extra bonus, I even got my eyebrows waxed! suprisingly, I've never done that before!} and for those of you saying, "it doesn't even look like she cut her hair", think about this... in the past 4 months, I have cut almost 10 inches off of my hair.
hair cut.
so...I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow. I have had the same hair style for almost 10 years. and I'm in the mood for something different. I'm thinking about chopping it....like 5 inches. eek! I'm such a dorky graphic designer, that I even photoshopped some pictures of me with shorter hair. geez. I think I'm ready for it!!!

baby, it's cold.....inside??
ok. so, it's been a little chilly in Florida lately, more than normal. I'm not complaining at all about the weather, I actually enjoy a little cool weather. what I am complaining about is how cold it is inside my office. on normal days, when the temp outside is in the 70s or 80s, I still find my self using my space heater. today, the temp registered 59 on the thermostat when we came to work this morning. 59 is COLD for indoors!!! my little space heater was working so hard to warm up my office, that it was starting to smell like something was burning. {probably not good...} I've been here an hour, and I'm finally ready to take my jacket off.
the 2007 green list
domino magazine and treehugger.com teamed up to find great-looking, earth-friendly design to create the 2007 green list . the green goods spread out in different catagories including furniture, clothing, walls, renovating, and transportation. I think this is a great way of showcasing eco-driven companies and designers.

10 things I can't live without.
10. chapstick. seriously, I'm to the point of almost being addicted. and, since my kitten likes to knock things off of the dresser all the time, I tend to lose my chapstick quite often. now I have three tubes in different places: one at work, one in my purse, and one in my bedside table.
09. water. not just because you need water to live, but I love water and drink lots of water. and I love Emergen C.
08. music. obviously anyone who's human appreciates some type of music. I heard a saying somewhere that, "if music were a drug, I'd definitely be addicted." I love getting a new CD. and there are so many great ones coming out this year!!!
07. a good pair of jeans. not only are they super comfortable, but they look good and make you feel good. I love my jeans from Ruehl and I want another pair!
06. good food. I said good food, because I don't mean just any food. I mean GOOD food. organic meats, fruits and veggies, lots and lots of spices, to die for dinners, and comfort food.
05. family and friends. when your friends become your family, you know they're special. I can't live without my family.
04. one giant purse that holds everything. yea, so what if it starts to hurt my shoulder sometimes and makes me low maintence? I like my giant purse. that way, I can use my giant yellow wallet from Anthropologie, carry my umbrella, my sunglasses case, and anything else I can fit into there, all at the same time.
03. good beer. again, I said GOOD beer. I love trying new beers, and can't wait to visit a microbrewery.
02. love. simply put, I couldn't live without love. I have someone, who loves me more than I have ever felt love before, and I love him more than I have ever loved. it's that "can't live without eachother" love. and now I have a kitten who I love so much, I could just squeeze him all the time!!
01. creativity. in a world with trillions of colors, why would someone want to limit themselves to the black and white? exploring myself, and my limits. I'm the happiest when I'm being creative or designing.

beer snob
I would consider myself to be an average connesuier of wine. I took a wine course in college, I have been to tastings, and I am able to pick a wine based on food parings. I know a lot about the characteristics of wine regions, but I could not, however, tell you that this wine is a 2002 vintage from from the Graves region of Bordeaux or that the Shiraz you're drinking is from South Australia. it's difficult to keep up with wine snobs and to feel accepted in a wine community full of over zealous wine freaks. that is why I choose to be a beer snob.
beer is much more complex than I ever thought. I used to wash my palate down with Miller Light after Miller Light, and actually enjoyed the taste. ask me my opinion two years ago, and I would tell you, Miller Light was my beer of choice and I hated the taste of Guiness. I could name enough beers to play the alphabet game with beer as a category, but I had no idea what IPA meant, or what a microbrewery was, or that Belgium beers came in 4 basic styles. I was content drinking can after can of Miller Light. now, I would consider myself to be somewhat of a beer snob. and it's a whole hell of a lot cooler than being a wine snob. I've met beer snobs and they are much more laid back, flip flop wearing, shirts untucked, and messy hair people, as compared to the stuffy wine people who all remind me of Fraiser. being a beer snob, I go to bars where I know there is good beer, I can't stand drinking anything "light", and I actually ordered a Guiness at a bar on Saturday night. (guiness + frambroise = delightful)
now that our beer book has just over 60 beers in it, I think I'm well on my way to becoming a beer snob. a few of my favorites to date are: Duvel, Dunedin Apricot Peach Ale, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Bells Hop Slam, and Great Lakes Holy Moses White Ale. check them out!

moose loves music
dlb was playing the guitar like usual, and moose decided to come in for a closer listen. moose definitely got the front row seat for this show! :)I hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day, attached or not. my belly is super full from all the delicious treats we indulged in.... now some final sips of my pink champagne garnished with a vanilla bean, then off to bed.
t-shirts
it's always exciting to me to see my work in print. I work freelance as a t-shirt designer for a company called Daville Clothing. I have been working with the company for just under two years. these are three of the shirts that I designed currently for sale on the website, which should be completed soon! I'll keep everyone posted as to when the site will be finished. {I especially love my "unruly" shirt.}
I've got my valentine....
today, indulge in chocolates, things that are pink, roses, candies, and love. my valentine and I are cooking an amazing dinner together full of fun food. we're cooking dinner suedo tapas style with a petite filet migon, shiitake, gorgonzola, spinach, figs, garlic, apples, brie, rosemary, asparagus and pine nuts. {can we say, aphrodisiac?} happy valentine's day to everyone!{image from Broadway Paper}

since I'm feeling a little under the weather today, and it's raining outside, I thought I'd pay respect to one of my growing favorite colors, gray.
01. dress by Velvet from Active Endeavors.
02. Celia bedding from Room & Board. {love love LOVE!} Room & Board is a great site by the way, which I just discovered. they have a really helpful design center on the site where you can get inspiration, and design ideas.

everything nice...
I've been searching for some spice containers for some time now, since most of the spices we have are purchased in bulk. I finally found some great ones, {$0.99 each!}, at Bed Bath and Beyond. very simple with white lids and glass containers, these things are great! I decided, with the help of a friend's idea, to customize the labels myself. I was going to purchase mailing labels and write the spice names on by hand, but I thought these would be much cuter. plus, I get to use my polka dots! I'm simply smitten with my new spice collection. it makes the kitchen look so much cuter! it's amazing the little things that make me smile. :)

things I've been wondering...
• why are people so concerned with the opinions of others?
• why does my kitten always land on his feet when propelled across the room?
• if cats aren't capable of self regognition, then how can my kitten recognize me?
• why does my hair look great some days, but the awful on others, when I have the same hair routine every day?
• how long does it take to forget things?
• why won't my boyfriend give me that incredibly sexy picture of him to brag about on my blog?
• how can I gain access to turbo when ever I want it?
• could I really live without a cell phone?
over and out...

gig posters/eleanor grosch
I heart gig posters and I heart Eleanor Grosch. ever since hearing about her from a co-worker, I've fallen in love with her work. a graduate of the University of South Florida, Eleanor Grosch's style is totally inspiring. I absolutly love the simplicity of her illustrations and unique and friendly animals. I'd like to get a pair of the Keds that she designed, but they look funny on my feet! I've been dying for a screen print of hers...I'll get one soon.

couch obsessed
with the thought of moving into a new, bigger apartment, the thoughts of new bigger things have been circling my head. especially a new couch to replace my broken one!! I'm dying for a dark colored couch, preferrably black or dark gray, with texture and a slightly modern yet inviting feel. I love the top couch from Moroso, and I love the look of their site. the the company is located in Italy and I havn't yet found a showroom in the US in which to purchase the couches. I also like Natuzzi couches, shown at the bottom, which are gorgeous as well. they can be found at Scan Design.
death cab
I love Death Cab For Cutie. after the release of Plans, I started to get into them. all of their albums are great they have definitely become one of my favorite bands. the sounds are great, and the lyrics are catchy and unique. I just got the Forbidden Love EP, which was released in 2000. {thanks babe} it has an acoustic version of 405 on it, which is absolutely fabulous. now I'm dying to hear more acoustic songs!

mum note cards
hm...
choices. we make them because we have to. we stand by them because we believe in them. we don't always make the right ones, but those that are right, outline our future. I'm making a choice that is going to greatly affect me life. for the better. I feel so good about it, and that I'm finally getting something done. now the problem is waiting until I see results.

fresh face
I have been looking for a new facial cleanser with natural ingredients for some time now. I have been using a Biotin shampoo, organic body wash, and organic toothpaste, but had not yet found a good facial cleanser. yesterday I bought Collective Wellbeing Rosemary and Sage Cleansing Cream and the Weightless moisturizer. I LOVE them. they leave my face feeling great, and not tight as most products do. I have very dry skin, and most products dry out my face to the point where it stings or burns. Collective Wellbeing has many products for a variety of facial conditions. I also purchased a new powder from Zuzu Luxe that has natural ingredients such as herbs and minerals to keep my face looking fresh. it's great! my face feels fresh. it looks fresh. and is super soft too.
2.04.2007
yay colts!
the Colts win Super Bowl XLI! not like I'm a huge Colts fan or anything, but I love Peyton Manning and of course, ex-Bucs coach, Tony Dungy. after leaving the Bucs right before their Super Bowl win, he deserves this. after all, he built that team. so, go Dungy! go Petyon!

black and white decorating
the Domino magazine website gallery features black and white living spaces with little touches to make this classic combo even better. I've about decided that I'm giving up on color as the main focus in my house. it's so difficult for me to settle on one color!! as I was looking at this site, I looked over to my boyfriend and said I'd like to decorate in black, and his eyes immediately perked up and he said ok! I love the elegant yet modern look of black decorating.

the shins: wincing the night away
for all you Shins fans out there, the new CD, "Wincing the Night Away", was released on January 23. I love the hand drawn look of the cover! I wasn't really able to give it a good listen until today at work, and it's really good. I'm not partiularly a great music critic, though I'm going to try. the album seems very similar to that of the previous releases, though a little more grown up. my favorite songs are "Sea Legs", which has a great melody combined with a bit of a hip hop beat, and "Split Needles", which begins with a rusty guitar sound followed by catchy lyrical patterns. if you're looking for a new album to add to your collection, or just for something new and upbeat, check out The Shins!
